about
"The Guest" is a driving indie rock song about being haunted out of the blue by the memory of a lost beloved person. It was recorded on a hungover day in early March 2019 in Studio 2 of the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. The lyrics are about someone who finally figures out that his current confusion and discomfort are still caused by a supposedly forgotten romance. Realizing this makes way for redemption in an extensive and euphoric song ending. Dodo Origami's piano player Christoph wrote this track in the aftermath of an unlucky love affair.
lyrics
What is that sound?
Never heard it around.
Wait, are they real,
All the cracks that I feel?
What’s behind this door?
Never seen it before.
And who’s in this place?
Who will show me his face?
Heaven, you are still inside me, baby.
Heaven, I must try to get you out.
When I’m leaving home
I still find that I’m not alone.
But I swear that I’ll get rid of you, my baby.
I must try...
I must try to forget
Every word that you said.
Try to delete
Every step of your feet.
Throw it away
Every week, every day.
I must replace
The sweet look of your face.
Heaven, you are still inside me, baby.
Heaven, I must try to get you out.
When I’m leaving home
I still find that I’m not alone.
But I swear that I’ll get rid of you, my baby.
Heaven, you are still inside me, baby.
Heaven, I must try to get you out.
When I’m leaving home
I still find that I’m not alone.
But I swear that I’ll get rid of you, my baby.
