about

True Love is an intense rock song with a dance vibe about an obsessive love. It was recorded on a hungover day in early March 2019 in Studio 2 of the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. True love tells the enigmatic story of someone who is obsessed with another person. The lyrics take the listener on a journey through the deep valleys of passion, with insomnia, despair, and episodes of delusion. In a climactic moment, the object of obsession shows up in person and expresses a strong aversion, leading to an even more desperate crisis. But then, in a surprising twist, there is the sudden realization that it is easily possible to strip the obsession off and to move on with no effort. Dodo Origami's piano player Christoph wrote this track in a period of artistic clarity but emotional confusion.

lyrics

Girl, you’re so beautiful
I don’t know where to put my sight
I called you in the evening
With the vultures circling my mind
It’s true love, true love,
Love all the way to the stars

And then you were knocking at my door
Said that you had seen my face before
Said that you are the girl that I adore
A-a
And you told me: this is war

This Girl is so beautiful
I haven’t slept a lonely night
I’m running whilst I'm dreaming
A poem for you I will write
It’s true love, true love,
Love all the way to your heart

And then you were knocking at my door
Said that you had seen my face before
Said that you are the girl that I adore
A-a
And you told me: this is war

This true love
It's burning
It breaks my heart in two
for what I've been yearning
all the things left said untrue
I break down on the snake ground
praying for salvation
I never thaught that it couldn’t hurt

All the love
All the aching
I must admit that I had been blind
I ran away absolutely okay
Believing that this love was true
All the love
All the aching
I must admit that I had been blind
I ran away absolutely okay
Believing that this love was
Just a lie
