about
"Help Me" by Dodo Origami is a sophisticated indie ballad with electronic influences. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London in spring 2019. The text of the song revolves around a maritime metaphor and describes a drowning person crying out for help. While being pulled underwater by a stone, one is unable to detach from the rope that holds the stone to the body. While the tides are collapsing and one is slowly losing the battle against the water, there’s still hope that one’s cries for help will be heard in time. In this song, Dodo Origami's piano player Christoph processes the feeling of powerlessness against one's own thoughts which are constantly revolving around a loved one.
lyrics
Feeling the weight I am
Thinkin all day I am
Drinkin your water I’m
Sinkin, I’m sinkin
Feeling the weight I am
Thinkin all day I am
Drinkin your water I’m
Sinkin, I’m sinkin
And when you're dragging me down
Don't put me under the ground
Why don't we talk it out?
And stop dragging me down
I need someone to help me
Help me, you’re the stone,
Help me, I’m goin down
Release me, before I drown
You got your rope rope tied at me
Girl, I need some help to set me free
Release me, before I drown
Going down down down
